Starting November 1, 2026, tax-free shopping in Japan changes from "consumption tax is exempted at the time of purchase" to "pay the tax when you buy, get a refund after your departure is confirmed."
You first pay the tax-inclusive price in the store, then complete customs confirmation when you leave Japan. Once it is confirmed that you have taken your items out of Japan, the eligible refund amount goes into your Ocean Wallet. After you complete the "Withdraw" step, you receive your refund through the refund method you registered.
